I have NEVER been a fan of exercise. I’m the type of person that feels completely content eating bags of chips on my bed as I binge watch Netflix. However, it wasn’t until last year that my wife would talk to me about my personal health and said, “I wish you loved me enough to take care of yourself.” To her, our personal health meant a longer life to grow old together. Cute, right? That’s when I decided I wanted to put in a little more effort!
In January 2018, my good friend, Erica, convinced me to go to her Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) class. I have no idea why the hell I decided to go with her at 6am, but I did and it was AMAZING! I struggled pretty hardcore and felt like I was going to die. I just wanted to share my personal experience about Orangetheory and give you an honest opinion about why it’s worth the money.
OTF is a circuit based workout that revolves around treadmills, rowers, and the weight floor. You have a personal trainer that is very invested in getting the results that you’re looking for. Each class is one hour and high intensity that helps you in all aspects of exercise. When you sign up, you can purchase a heart rate monitor so that they can help you track different statistics about your workouts.
The price to become a member of Orangetheory is steep. I decided to sign up as a Premium member which allowed me to go to an unlimited amount of classes for a month. This was costing me $149 a month. You’re probably thinking, “What the actual F?! Who the hell wants to spend that much money?!” Honestly, I was willing. I’m telling you, it’s worth it. I’m cheap AF, and I still think it’s worth it!
Money has always been a huge motivator for me. So when they told me that they charge you $12 for booking a class and cancelling last minute, I was shooketh! It helped me take accountability for my personal health and made me commit to working out and actually follow through! This helped me turn “going to gym” into a habit.
I started seeing results very quickly when I started OTF. I feel like I’m in my physical prime right now at the age of 25. At the end of 2017, I ate my way up to 265 lbs which was the heaviest I’ve ever been. I currently weigh a little under 220 lbs! This is just a result from exercise. I didn’t diet or change any of my eating habits. I’m still that guy that eats bags of chips in his bed while binge watching Netflix.
This gym has completely adjusted my perspective on exercise and has helped me achieve goals in a fraction of the time that I thought it would. So if you’re ever curious about OTF, you should check it out! They offer a free class for any first timers. Feel free to come to the Orem, UT gym and try it out with me! I’m always down to have a workout buddy. Click on the button below to find an OTF near you!
A lot of people have asked me about my experience with OTF and I’m glad that I finally get to share with all of you how much I love it. If you do have any questions about it, just reach out on my Instagram (@kuyakollective).
As of 11/12/2018, here are some of my statistics for what I’ve been able to accomplish! Check it out! It’s been a crazy experience, but I’m so glad that I’ve taken the steps necessary to better my health!
